Amanda Martell
Founder and Clinical Director, Consultant Occupational Therapist
Hello, I’m Amanda, Founder and Clinical Director of The Wellbeing Den. I am a Consultant Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of experience working across the NHS, Local Authorities, education and independent practice. Throughout my career, I have been privileged to support children and young people with a wide range of developmental, sensory, physical and neurodevelopmental needs, while also helping the adults around them build the confidence and knowledge to make a lasting difference.
My passion has always been helping children participate more fully in everyday life—not simply through therapy sessions, but by creating environments where they can flourish. I believe that the greatest impact is achieved when families, schools, health professionals and communities work together with a shared understanding of a child’s strengths, needs and aspirations.
Over the years, my role has evolved beyond clinical practice into strategic consultancy and service development. I have led Occupational Therapy services within the NHS, designed new therapy pathways for Local Authorities, supported schools to develop inclusive practice, contributed to SEND service transformation, and provided specialist advice for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), including complex and tribunal-directed cases.
I founded AMOTivate Ltd to provide specialist Occupational Therapy consultancy, and The Wellbeing Den was born from a vision of bringing together experienced professionals from across education, health and social care. Our shared aim is to provide truly collaborative, child and family-centred support that is practical, evidence-informed and tailored to each individual’s unique strengths and circumstances.
My areas of expertise include autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences, developmental coordination disorder (DCD), physical disabilities, cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, functional participation, school readiness, preparing for adulthood, and supporting children and young people with complex additional needs. Alongside direct clinical work, I am passionate about mentoring professionals, delivering training, developing services and helping organisations create sustainable systems that improve outcomes for children and families.
I look forward to welcoming you to The Wellbeing Den.
